5 Budget Memorandum 2013: shockproof public finances and a resilient economy

In the Netherlands, the third Tuesday in September (known as Prince’s Day) is traditionally marked by the State Opening of Parliament. The day’s celebrations begin with a royal procession from Noordeinde Palace to the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights), where the members of both houses of parliament and other invited guests are assembled. Here, the Queen delivers her Speech from the Throne, the text of which is written by the government. Then the budget for the coming year (the Budget Memorandum) is presented to the House of Representatives by the Minister of Finance.

6 Global summit on nuclear security in The Hague

The Nuclear Security Summit being hosted by the Netherlands in March 2014 will be held in the World Forum in The Hague, Minister of Foreign Affairs Uri Rosenthal announced today. Over 50 heads of state and government and representatives of international organisations are expected to attend the event, which will be chaired by the Dutch Prime Minister.

7 Ambassador Kraak presented his Letters of Credence to the Chairman of the BiH Presidency

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to BiH, H.E. Mr. Jurriaan Kraak presented on 4 September 2012 his Letters of Credence to the Chairman of BiH Presidency, H.E. Mr. Bakir Izetbegovic. On this occasion Ambassador Kraak reiterated that Bosnia and Herzegovina and The Netherlands have strong ties in numerous areas.

8 Municipality of The Hague and City of Sarajevo cooperate in the area of social policy

Minister of Labor, Social Policy and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, Zilha Ademaj underlined that this memorandum defines the steps of future cooperation between The Hague and Sarajevo. Ademaj expressed her gratitude to the authorities of the Dutch municipality for the support offered in the area of social protection and employment.

9 Announcement of the new ORIO application procedure

As of May 2012 projects from all infrastructure sectors (water, environment, energy, transport, ICT, social services and civil works) in each country on the ORIO country list may be eligible for an ORIO grant.
